Events in 2020 brought huge changes to our workplace, with hybrid working transforming organisations. As the business landscape changes, organisational leaders must use technology and information to build a better workplace that embraces the work styles of all their people, improves productivity and enhances wellbeing.
Recent technologies such as Viva Insights help leaders to get insights into work patterns within their organisations, provide personalised and relevant experiences and support employees at scale. Viva prioritises the wellbeing and effective workflow of its users.
Technology has a crucial role to play in the new world of hybrid working. It is keeping businesses running smoothly despite remote working obstacles.
Organisations are trying to find solutions for newer problems such as:
- Remote onboarding of new employees
- Protecting people from burnout while working remotely
- Keeping people connected and engaged
To address these needs, Microsoft launched Viva, an employee experience platform that brings together communications, knowledge, learning, resources, and insights.
To start with, Viva has the following four modules:

According to The Definite Guide: Employee Experience published by The Josh Bersin Company in 2021.
“We meet too much, email too frequently, and never get a break. We’re not working from home but living at work.” Terms such as ‘Zoom fatigue’ and ‘digital overload’ have become part of our vocabulary. Communication overload became an everyday reality of our work life.
Employee productivity and wellbeing became the number one priority for many organisations, as without healthy, productive employees', organisations cannot thrive.
Viva Insights helps people to work smarter and thrive, with privacy-protected, personal insights and tips provided inside the Microsoft Teams suite.
Like a digital life-coach, Viva Insights helps people to be their best at work with personalised recommendations and handy tools. It can notify an employee when they have worked too much and need to recharge. Viva helpfully reminds them to take a break or short meditation so they can come back to their work refreshed and recharged.
At the end of the day, Viva Insights helps to people to consciously finish their workday and disconnect.
Many managers have felt the strain of remote working and are concerned if they are providing enough support for their staff. For managers, Viva Insights provides the My Team view, empowering managers to foster healthy, successful teams. As an example, Viva Insights can help a manager see if their team is at risk of burnout and provides a list of actions to address it.
All recommended actions are backed up by research and such world-class resources such as the Harvard Business Review. This app has also partnered with Headspace to ensure that users are getting the most up-to-date and supportive advice for their mental and physical health.

Viva Insights are derived from data in Microsoft 365. When people use collaboration tools, like chat, email and calendar, they leave behind digital footprints that are captured in Microsoft 365. The beautiful thing is this data is produced as natural by-product of the work people do every day. It doesn’t require they do anything extra or differently.
As a Microsoft 365 customer you have a wealth of data available on the way people work within your organization. Combining this information with other organisational data, such as employee engagement scores and performance ratings, leaders are enabled to pinpoint which specific behaviors result in successful business outcomes.
As a Charter Member of the Microsoft 365 Content Services Partner Program and a Badged Microsoft Workplace Analytics Partner, Intergen is part of a global elite group of companies that have been recognised by Microsoft as leaders in the Microsoft Viva space. We’re helping our customers to utilise the power of Viva to deliver exceptional employee experiences in their organisations.
