Communications Strategist


Join our Marketing & Communications team in Wellington as our newest Communications Strategist!

The Role and Responsibilities
As Communications Specialist you are responsible for driving proactive, inspired communications to both internal and external audiences spanning the Empired Group.

You will be comfortable understanding the organisations voice and personality, using your own personal styles to optimise the way we communicate with the market.

Working with the Marketing Operations Manager and GM of Marketing and Alliancs, you will create and implement a communications strategy that is aligned to business objectives. As a can-do business partner, you will work closely with stakeholders to sell the vision and obtain buy-in from the team; you’ll find those captivating stories within the detail and translate them into a truly compelling, engaging and customer-oriented narrative across all our touchpoints.

This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the Business Leadership team and help shape and embed strategic communications messaging across the entire Empired group. Working with the wider team, you’ll contribute to key campaign initiatives whilst contributing strongly to the guardianship of our brand, ensuring our brand promise is well understood internally and a daily reality in everything we do.

You will constantly strive to spread the word (via traditional and digital mediums) about the wonderful things Intergen and Empired are helping our clients to achieve, consistent with our brand guidelines. Through storytelling and thought leadership across many channels you will be instrumental in helping the business show the many ways in which we deliver tomorrow’s advantage today for our clients.

Your Experience
  • Extensive experience with producing high quality content of varying types, for various mediums and purposes at pace
  • Involvement in SEO performance and changes required to ensure the value of our points of view, stories and insights are optimised
  • Briefing and engaging with external marketing agencies
  • Have strong commercial nous, along with experience in corporate and company communications ideally in a technology-focused professional services business
  • Experience working for a listed company is a great advantage
  • Proven experience executing successful storytelling, content marketing and thought leadership plans
  • Implementing communication strategies based on data, insights and trends.
  • Ability to provide a strong editorial eye across all kinds of marketing-related documentation and have a real gut feel for finding and telling engaging stories
  • Experience interacting and influencing at the highest level whilst still being able to roll your sleeves up in a small team
  • Ability to be a quick leaner and great listener – able to grasp and bring concepts or technical material to life in non-technical ways
  • Ability to work in an agile environment, thriving in a fast-moving and evolving business
  • Be a team player who enjoys a high degree of trust, collaboration, and sense of fun
