Lead UI Developer


The role:

We’re looking for a passionate Lead Front End Developer who loves to create intuitive and engaging digital experiences for customers and most importantly their users. You will be responsible for developing interfaces across our Digital solutions, helping to drive the technical roadmap, championing standards compliance, accessibility and user experience.

Collaboration with all teams including our Creative and UX teams, is key to success. Your skills and expertise will be required throughout a project to ensure the final product we deliver meets the highest standards possible and provides a great user experience across all supported browsers and devices. You will love solving problems, enjoy working as part of a team and will be passionate about technology.

While engaged in a permanent role based in Sydney's CBD, you will have the opportunity to work across a wide range of projects with the latest technologies!

You will also:

  • Architect and deliver high quality, semantic and standards compliant responsive interfaces across various platforms.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and frameworks, to ensure we’re using the right technologies at the right time.
  • Work as part of a delivery team and collaborating with peers to design high quality digital products and websites.
  • Define robust technical approaches and produce estimations.
  • Drive the interface technical roadmap and standards within the digital team.
  • Mentor and inspire team members to help them improve their skills and quality of delivery.

Required skills and experience:

  • 8+ years commercial Interface development experience
  • Proven experience developing creatively led mobile-first interfaces using HTML5, CSS Frameworks (e.g. Bootstrap or Foundation), CSS Preprocessors (SASS, LESS), JavaScript (ES6, ES7, ES8) and TypeScript
  • Experience delivering SPAs using the latest JavaScript frameworks, such as React, Angular or Vue.js.
  • Experience delivering Mobile Apps using React Native or Xamarin
  • Experience with Pattern Lab creation is beneficial.
  • Ability to work with Photoshop or Sketch to cut up designs
  • Excellent understanding of source control solutions like GIT and VSTS
  • Exposure to CMS driven applications, for example Episerver or Sitecore
  • Experience integrating with REST APIs
  • Experience working with task runners, such as Gulp and Grunt
  • Experience using a modular approach to JavaScript, for example with RequireJS or WebPack.
  • Experience working within an Agile environment
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and / or industry certification and experience
  • Great knowledge of industry best practices, coding / accessibility standards, effective documentation and production of maintainable code
